ABOUT US -- We're Active !
The Genesee Valley Antique Car Society is located in upstate New York, a part of the country that is known for it's proximity to Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes.
While we hold monthly informal "Cars and Coffee" gatherings, we officially kick off the year in February with picnics! We hold a Winter Picnic at a local park here in the north and, for those members who winter in Florida, we hold a picnic there too!
March and April are months when we hold an indoor meetings with presentations of interest to car enthusiasts.
As the weather warms up we get into the swing of our hobby by scheduling more events that involve driving our old cars. One of the first events is a Spring Brunch Run followed by an Ice Cream Social currently held at Tom Wahls in Avon, NY.
As the year progresses, various events are scheduled to show off our cars and give our members a chance to socialize and enjoy the highways and byways in our area of the country. We've held activities such as a Poker Run, garage tours, overnight tours, mystery tours, and a week long 1000 mile tour. We are a presence at local cruise-ins, and we are frequently invited to display our cars at adult living facilities where residents can view the cars, talk with car owners and recall memories of vehicles they used to own. Sometimes we are invited to display our cars at school programs where students are studying auto mechanics or auto-body repair. The students enjoy seeing vehicles of yesteryear and comparing them to the cars they are working on and learning about.
We hold our Annual Meeting in November as well as a December Holiday event where we present trophy awards to honor members chosen by the Board of Directors, for service to the club, outstanding tour, outstanding achievement of a club member, active participation, best restoration, and providing assistance to other members.
Be sure to look at our website Photo Gallery to see all that we do as a club!
